at last the sky is gray
the blue has gone summering
yet the rain is a world away
there is nothing here
not even blackbirds singing
and i stand ashy
a ghost among dead trees
there must be fireflies
waiting in the gloaming and beyond
shed the tear you have refused me
and my soul is free from November
i see now, know now
how cold stone live without life
at last the sky is gray
the blue has gone summering
yet the rain is a world away
at last the sky is gray
at last

I miss autumn fading into the cold stillness of winter.

Hi Cris,
How sad winter can be.I had some winter experiences and I can say that this season carries with it a certain sadness indeed. Your poem captures the blues but hope (...there must be fireflies waiting in the gloaming and beyond..)as you say it in a beautiful poetic language makes melancholy just the flip side of
hope or joy.
As always, a beautiful poem!
@G-Ma
We need sad sometimes, it's good for the soul. Thanks for dropping by. Hugs :D
@France
I have loved that painting for a long time despite it's rather gloomy atmosphere. Thanks for always checking in. :D
